I was wondering what would be better running, 4 alpine type-x on 2 jl audio 1000/1 or 4 Pioneer Premier TS-W3001D4 on 2 jl 1000/1 ? what sub is better i've never dealt with any. I HAVE dealt with 4 alpine type-r and 4 pioneer Pioneer TS-W307D4 , both four ohm. alpine type-r out performed the pioneer, but the pioneers had good bass delivery. im just looking to go big.

The Pioneers will give you the most amount of bass for your money, but the Alpines will for sure sound better, and possibly louder but for more money.

Why not four Type X's with a 1000/1 each powered by 1000 watts.

'Cause per Bob (aka tcss) the Type X woofers NEED a kW each, and even THAT'S underpowered. He had one in his shop, sitting there, in an Alpine designed slotted box, and while it sounded GOOD, (and I mean really good...) output left a great deal to be desired!
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Type Type R's would work better with two 1000/1s
My friend has two Type R's with an MRD-1005 on each. They are still begging for me power.

Maybe I underestimate type-r's - but with this kind of power I'd graph the excursion in WinISD before porting them. . . .
