sensitivity is hard to compare...the specs do not state in what way the test was done. Any good quality subwoofer will work well depending on application.
I would choose the Type R over the PB though.

type rs will blow your mind i love those subs.  currently in the process of fabricating my box for 4 10"type rs in my civic hatch...  great spl and sq for the price and enclosure space...  swear by these subs. 
you can do it....

I knew a guy that had 2 Powerbass (spelled 'Powerbase at the time, don't know what the deal with that was!) 12's rated for 350watts RMS each powered by a 30x2 Alpine amp.

Get this, he had speaker wires from the HU ran to the RCA inputs in the amp. If that isn't bad enough, the gain knobs on the amp were broke off -jacked all the way up! The subs took it like it was nothing, for about 6months!

I hit 128.6 db with them in a sealed box with 1000watts rms

Just did 129.4 with it maxxed, I have a 1500w rms amp here... do you think I can hit a higher db with a bandpass box? Thanks.

129.4 is a low score. With a nicely designed and built ported enclosure you can hit considerably higher than 129.4
What amp do you have?? model number??
