Hello everyone,
I was wondering if someone could help me out. The sound in my car keeps cutting out randomly every once in a while. At first I thought that it was my amp that powers the speakers but that doesn't seem to be the problem as the power light stays on even when the sound cuts out. What happens is I'll be driving along and all of a sudden the sound cuts from a loud/reasonable level to barely audible, (but audible). Then it comes back on, usually after a minute or two. There doesn't seem to be any reason for it it's really random. Could it be the head unit?

The next time it happens, put your hand on your amplifier and see how hot it is. If you can not keep your hand on it, the thermal protection circuitry in some amps cut the power back instead of cutting them completely off.
