stereo trouble short in constant 12v

hello, a while back my car was damaged from a crash, in turn the radio stopped working. the lights on the radio went dead(as did the radio), the only thing that worked was the tape deck, at limited power. i decided to try and install a new cd player. it seemed the Ignition line for the olds was the only wire with power (with the ignition on). the cig lighter fails to give power as well. there is a short in the Continuous power(orange wire https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/stereodetail/1710.html , the yellow one has power). i checked the fuse box but it seems most of them work (including the radio fuse). any light on this issue would be helpful.

You have a blown or missing fuse in the fusebox.  It may be labeled CTSY, BODY, or maybe LGHTR.  If there are any missing fuses in the box, put a 5 amp fuse in the location, then check for power on the lighter wire.

what if it says like 20 or 25? would i still put a 5? i tryed the CTSY today because it had a 25 amp fuse because of someone who put it in previously.(it said 20 above CTSY) so i put a 20 in it and i saw sparks, and it blew that 20 fuse.

Check inside of every Cigarette lighter in the vehicle, you are looking for pennies or anything that has shorted the center to the outer part of the lighter socket. The courtesy fuse also provides power for the domelight and interior lighting, were you having problems with either of these items before the fuse started blowing? Did you add neon lighting that comes on when you open the door? Do not put anything larger than a 20 amp fuse in that slot.

well i got it to work, the radio is fully functional. only now the starter is gone, and the fan belt is nearly snapped...
