ok so today i got a new amp in, mono block for the subs. well i already had a jbl 4 channel hooked up to all 4 door speakers and they played perfect. well when i took the main power cabe. coming from the battery and put a distro block on it, i hooked it back up and there is popping and a hiss coming through the speajkers. they play but just with a loud hiss and constant popping.

i thought it was the distro so i changed it out and nothin.  i think it may be the rcas but i dont have the money or time to rerun them. i hope it is something differant.

like i said it never did this but when i put the distro block in and re hooked it up the popping and hiss comes into play. please help me people. thanks!

Did you disconnect the battery before you started messing with the power cable?  It is possible you damaged the amp if it was still connected to power.  Also, what else did you do to the system?  Did you install the mono subwoofer amp?  Does it work?

well i remembered to un do the battery after the fact that there was a spark from my distros. its stinger 1 in 2 out, all wrapped in protective plastic, sitting on carpet. AND IT SPARKED! somehow. and melted the corner of the distro. dont know how it sparked. but how do i tell if i messed the amp up. it still lights up blue and plays music.???

Is there a Pioneer deck in the dash of the bumpinexploder?        Did you click on the blue line of my earlier post, and at least perform the test at the top of the page?

Spark = oops, something likely broke.  This is why you should never work on electrical components while they are powered.  As "I Am" suggests, if you have a Pioneer (or Sony or Panasonic) head unit you could have damaged or blown a fuse in the preamp output ground plane, you could have damaged the input stage of the amplifier, you could have created an arc-path to ground, you could have done any number of possible things that have damaged your gear - you could have burned your truck to the ground.  Basic installer techniques might have prevented this issue.

Follow the trouble-shooting ideas linked above and if that's not it, get your vehicle in to a good shop so someone who knows what they are doing can check it out for you.

If there is a visible arc on your Distribution block and it was caused by an RCA cable touching it, it doesn't really matter what kind of deck you are using.  The ones DYohn mentioned do have more delicate shield paths inside the radio.  But if the RCA jack was the cause of the arc, perform the test on the top of the page I posted earlier.

ok i havnt tried the rca thing becaus ei dont have a ohm meter like on that link. but i did read it and it is a good plan. also there is a pioneer HU. even though i have some problem here and there i wouldnt trade any pioneers i ever owned. i love there operating systems and features to much. lol but last time this happened it was the internal amp on the radio that blew. its under warrenty so i may have circuit city just throw another one in htere for me and see what that does.but i re ran the ground and it still pops and stuff. i will hook my mono block up today after work and ill see if it works. if so then its my jbl amp then i guess? sorry for the long post but thanks guys for helping me with this.

also, can the problem be the radio even though it still plays? last time i blew the internal amp and it didnt play at all. so im wondering if it can still be the radio or not.

If you touch 2 speaker wires together, you will take out the PAL007A output chip.  If the output chip goes out then the speaker wires of the radio will not play.  If you touch the shield of your RCA cable to your Distribution block, the speaker outputs will still work.  The problem that you WILL experience after doing this is excessive noise through whatever amp you connect to that RCA cable, or possibly all of the cables, depending on the model of the radio.
