I already searched and didnt find anything so Im asking here where all the pro's are.

I just bought my wife a 97 Cadillac Catera w/Bose. It already had a Pioneer CD player in it. BUT, it wont hold memory and clips out and turns off at higher volume. I checked the constant wire and it showed power with the key off so Im pretty stumped with that one. And Im thinking the clipping is because of the Bose amps? I know I had to run a level convertor in my 94 Mustang with the Mach460, do I need to do the same with this? Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated!!!

not sure about the clipping, but it might be the bose amps....I would bypass the amps completely and run them straight from the deck or get yourself a 4 ch. amp.  As far as the radio losing memory, most cadillacs lose constant power after about 30 mins. to some of the circuits in the car to prevent battery drain, your radio being one of those circuits.  It's recommended to run your constant power directly to the battery to prevent that from happening.

MAKE SURE YOU FUSE IT!  15 amp should do.

Oh yes definitely wont forget to fuse it.

Now with the direct wiring. Are the bose speakers 4 ohm? I know with the Ford Mach460 setup the speakers cannot take the direct wiring due to being 1ohm I think it is. And just to make sure there arent any speakers or a sub in the rear deck is there?

Thanks a million for the help!

The Bose speakers are more than likely 2 ohms, and you have quite a bit of them..

Front doors.....5 1/4 driver with tweeter per door.

Rear doors.....5 1/4 driver per door

Rear Deck.....2 6x9's..............it may also have a free standing sub at 4 ohms.

Now for the front doors you would have to wire the driver and the tweeter in series and give you an overall impedance of 4 ohms.  The rear doors and the rear deck also need to be wired in series and again should give you 4 ohms.  if they are for some reason 4 ohms speakers instead of 2, the wiring scenario will be the same.  The factory amp is in one of two places, behind the rear seat, or under the rear deck.  if you don't have a sub, then it should be under the rear deck.  if you do, check behind the seat.

It really is a lot of work, and have seen big problems arise, i'm talking blown airbags big!  GET ALL YOUR WIRES AT THE AMP.....DO NOT take a shortcut and try to get them in the kicks, you'll only make it worse.  if you aren't that experienced with this stuff, I strongly recommend that you take it to a good shop to get done!  Sorry, don't have wire colors as I don't think they used standard GM colors for these cars.

If they are this is what you'll find.....

Front left         tan (+) gray (-)

Front Right     light green (+)  dark green (-)

Rear left         brown (+)  yellow (-)

Rear right      Dark blue (+)  light Blue  (-)

Good luck....you'll need it!!

Wow, seems like its more trouble than its actually worth. Ive done a lot with car audio but this seems like a total pain. Any clue if the stock 98 cd player will work with the 97? If it will Ill just sell the Pioneer thats in it and buy the stock Bose Indash CD player and call it a day.lol
