I have an 04 civic, I hooked up my ipod with an fm transmitter, I could never get a perfect signal, nor quality. I do not have a tape player in my car. What is the best way to connect ipod to car with great quality. W/out head unit.

Was there an optional CD Changer available for that vehicle?     If so there are several companies that make Auxiliary input modules that connect to the CD Changer input jack.  Call your local stereo shop and ask if there is such a module for your vehicle.

Peripheral makes such a piece.  Hon98-Aux is their part number.   Call around somebody will have one.

I could never get the FM transmitter to work effectively, works better when not in a big city though, or at night when they cut the transmission levels. Most newer decks come with an aux/ipod input right on the front, so that is always an option.

although, if you have the kind of transmitter that actually has an antenna adapter that plugs right into the back of the head units antenna, those work better, like the Sony CD changers.
