I'm about to get a Pioneer TS-W3001D4.

The amp that I have right now is rated at 1x460 RMS at 4ohms

When I wire the sub up can I use the secone diagram from this link?  Will it work ok?

If the amp is a 2channel, you'll have to wire the sub to 8ohms.

What is the model # of the amp?

230watts to a sub that can handle 1000? Hmm... I'd be looking for a bigger amp if I were you...

No doubt I'm gonna get a new amp eventualy.  But will this work for the time being.  If I bridge the amp, then I'll be getting 460 watts RMS X 1 channel  at 4 ohms. Will the sub work with this if I wire it for 8 ohms?

Now that I think about it, wire only ONE voice coil to the bridged output terminals of the amp. This will give the one VC about 460watts. Perfectly fine.

its not gonna hurt the sub if i only wire up 1 vc right? so if i wire it for 8 ohms it wont be good for the sub, cuz my amp is running at 4 ohms..

Amps don't "run at' any load value, they produce power depending on what kind of load you attach to them.  The impedance rating of an amplifier indicates the minimum load required for safe operation.  If your amp is stable into 4-ohms, it will work just fine into 8-ohms (or anything else as long as it is greater than the minimum.)  Connecting one VC of a DVC woofer is perfectly fine, just realize this de-rates its power handling by about 30% and changes the T/S parameters (Qes and Le, for starters) so the optimal enclosure size changes a little.  For most every-day usage, you probably won't notice a difference.

Awesome thanks for the info. I gonna try both the 8 ohm way, and one vc meathod and see which one soun better.
