I've just noticed that my head unit doesn't dim when i dim my instrument lights.
It has a wire for illumination, which i connected to my cars illumination wire.
however there are also two other wires, dimmer + and dimmer -. so my car has 3 total wires for lighting, and my head unit has only one.
Do I have to wire these differently for the dimmer to work with my head unit? its a Kenwood KDC-MP538U, and it is supposed to dim.

that wire will only make the unit dim when you turn on your parklights, the brightness will not dim with the dimmer switch.

what do you mean? ive had my parking lights on, and the head unit simply remains lit at its max brightness.
how should i wire it so that it will dim properly when i dim the instrument lights?
