I have a 2007 ford f-150 and im trying to put a VR3 in dash dvd,nav,touchscreen..ect It gets power and counts time on discs but no sound. There are 5 mute wires coming out of the unit...One is pink and says "phone mute" and then there are 4 brown that say "mute" on them.Is it because I dont have them hooked up?

What is a VR3?  Did it come with an instruction manual?

VR3 is a product line now sold at Wally World.  Virtual Reality 3.  Same build quality as Dual, Valor Etc.   The mute wire should mute the radio if it is grounded.

Are the speaker wires of the truck connected to the radio or to an amplifier?

I think he is talking about the actual wiring harness itself. Yes I know there is an overwhelming amount of mute wires on there. lol
If your radio does not have a mute wire input, then just cap them off ALL SEPARATE from one another. On some vehicles these are not actually in fact mute wires, but SWC wires. (I've experienced this first hand).
If you do have a mute wire on your radio, just connect it to the pink wire on the harness and tap the others off.
