A buddy of mine is selling me an Alpine CDA-9883 that had its faceplate stolen. How much do the faceplates usually run? I am wondering if its better to just buy a whole nother deck.

Get him to get the faceplate - the problem is proving ownership - if he can't, you can't.

So do I have to provide ownership and all of that? It came with the car when he purchased it back in August and the faceplate was stolen yesterday. What kind of ownership proof will we need?

A credit or debit card is all you need.

My apologies.
So much for removable face-plates being a security feature. Or maybe the Alpines aren't coded?
And at that price, I may replace mine. The display blew after a my lovely poorly conducting ~4AWG heavy bolt connection (engine-body) caused voltages above 16V. Or I might just get a UV source.....
Thanks for the info Sir I!!

Does the ipod cable work with iphones? And should I be worried about any codes with a new faceplate?

No codes and I have no idea about that deck and which IPhone or IPod it will charge.  I will see what I can find out at work today.

Well I want to know if the cable and deck would work with an iphone and be able to control and display its songs. I no longer own an ipod so I want to see if I should buy the ipod cable or just an auxiliary one.
