I have an MB Quart Onyx 1.1500d amp with 2 10" MB Quart RSH 252. The amp took them out pretty quick. I put in my old JL 10w0 8 ohm subs in parallel and they sound great. The amp is set pretty high though and the JL's have no issues with it even though they are rated at 125 watts each. I was wondering if I was to upgrade to JL 10w3v3 2 ohm subs and parallel them to 1 ohm would the amp overdrive them? The sub is rated at 1500 watts at 1 ohm. I know the numbers are inflated that's why I'm asking. The 10w3v3 are rated at 500 watts. Any ideas? I really like the sound of the JL's. The amp's ratings at 500w at 4 ohm. 1000w at 2 ohm. 1500 at 1 ohm.

Oh I forgot the box is a sealed .6 cu. ft. for each sub in an 03 Navigator. The door speakers are MB Quart 6x8's running off an MB Quart Onyx 4.80 amp and an Pioneer AVIC head. That info probably doesn't matter.

on paper at least.
You can purchase the Jl 10w3v3-2
This is the w3 in 2 Ohm.
This will give the amp a 2-ohm load.

So in parallel I would be 1 ohm. Would that overdriver these subs? I'm thinking not but I thought I would ask.

you said you have a 2 Mb quarts.
So I figured you were using 2 jl w3.
So if you get the w3v3-2 They are DUAL 2ohm coils. Each woofer in series = 4 ohm each speaker.
Parallel both speakers = 2 ohm FINAL load.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the 10w3v3 2 ohms were single coils. I just read the manual and it says a single coil on it. Am I wrong? I am getting rid of the MB Quarts and only running the 2 JL's when I get them.

I just looked at the new v3 W3 and yes you are right, they are SINGLE coil. the V2 were DUAL coil.
Sorry for the mixup.
Then get the W3v3-4.
Speakers in parallel = 2 ohm load on the amp.
