Has anyone ran into this with a new 2012 F-150?
I installed a few Pioneer CD Players on some base model trucks for one of my dealers and I have had a customer complain of a pop sound and loss of memory to the radio. I checked it out and found no problem with the wiring so I swapped the deck for safe measure. The issue continued then I hear of another truck with the same issue. Seems like the vehicle has a power short going to the radio harness.
Anyone???

if you are losing memory then you have a problem with the yellow wire losing power. how exactly do you have the radio wired?

As I stated, I found NO problem with the wiring. Was installed with a 99-5520 metra harness. The power issue is coming before the harness.

I havent seen the Loss of Memory... But i have seen the Popping noise when powering up a factory Amp(Newer Mustang). Im pretty sure we used a 1k Ohm Resistor on the Turn-On wire. You said you have been installing on Base Models... Though...

the problem might not be obvious, possibly a loose connection in the metra plug, loose pin, etc. by chance are you using the metra smart harness where you have both the vehicle and radio plugs and they plug together in the middle via a 16 pin connector? sometimes those have bad connections and you need to use a zip tie to hold them together.

I have one vehicle that was but connected, all connections were solid. I even swapped the harness and the pioneer plug. Still cuts out. I'm now positive it iether the vehicle having some power fluctuation or a bad batch of deh1300's. This makes three cd players, one rewired with new plug and harness and cd replaced in two different trucks. It's not the connections, 20 years installing, I'm positive it's not a connection issue. Btw no factory amps. Just thought I'd see if anyone else has seen problems with pioneer or f-150's. I'll be putting a factory deck in on to see if the problem continues.

Well it looks like I found a solution. "I hope". I tried running a separate power lead. Didn't work. I than ran a separate ground, that didn't work. The customer had stated that there would be a popping sound before the radio would reset. She than told me it seems to come from the passengers side of the truck. I kept thinking, what would cause the speaker to pop and reset the radio even if the radio was off. Sounds crazy but if you sent voltage to the speaker leads it would make noise and cause a short feeding back to the radio. I ran separate speaker wires from the head unit to the speakers and so far my customer says the problem has not resurfaced. Crazy that a brand new vehicle would have some kind of short in the factory harness but I've seen and heard some crazy doodie that comes off the assembly line. I'll update if anything changes. Thanks for the help all. I hope this thread might help someone in the future.
