I am moving all my stereo into my new RAM 1500. its a 2012. It has the factory Alpine stuff in it. now here is my question. I am going to run the same setup as what I have in my Ford Escape. I have a set of focal 6 1/2 components for front and rear and 2 focal subs going under the rear seat. Im running to alpine pdx amps and a pioneer z120 head unit. I can get all the speaker wires at the factory amp so no issue there. My question here, is it possible or even worth it to retain the factory center channel speaker? How would I go about doing so? Where would you power it from? If there is a way to save it I may put a single speaker in there better then the factory Alpine one. Theres no center channel output on the z120 obviously and the amps outputs will all be used up. Just wondering if anyones done it or got any opinions. Not sure if I should even bother or not.

There are processors that will create a center channel from the front L and R. You'd need to add the processor plus an amplifier for the speaker. This can be quite expensive. You can also run a center speaker bridged between the left + and right + which is much cheaper but is not really a "center" channel. If you do this, make sure the net impedance will not overload your amplifier.

You don't use a speaker negative, you bridge across the two positives. No, most head units cannot support a bridged connection you have to use an amp that is designed to handle the increased load.

I'm thinking about running my rear 6x9's in bridged mono for a center channel. Would get more power out of it all. Just not sure how it would sound. These Audiobahn 6x9's pump out so much bass that several people have asked me what kind of subs I have. LOL! But I want my stereo to go a little louder.
Has anyone out there ever bridged a pair of full range 6x9's into mono? How did it sound? Does it overpower the front stage? If so, I could just turn the rear gain down.
