extndng length of legacy ainet 3.5mm jak

Hi all, I have an old Alpine CDA-9847 thats going into my vehicle, I need the 3.5mm input jack for phone mp3's so im ordering this legacy AiNET to 3.5mm jack which I found a wiring diagram on your forum: http://www./itm/like/291049896862?lpid=82 Is it possible to, say, cut the stereo jack off the AiNET cable, & purchase a spare 3.5mm jack & use it's length of cabling to cut a head off one side & solder the AiNet to the 3.5mm cable? I notice according to the diagram, beneath the cable sheath is 4-6 cables would a standard 3.5mm jack be of identical cabling? Also curious to know if anyone has done this before or something similar as the cables length looks rather short and im worried about having a phone hooked up to this thing and it flying around in the car.-8track

I know most car stereos have the 3.5mm aux "input" where you plug a 3.5mm Male to Male audio jack into the radio and your cellphone/ipod however, my radio has a AiNET jack to 3.5mm male, so i plug this directly into my phone but the length is not long enough, does anyone know if it is possible to extend the length of this cable by splicing in a longer 3.5mm male cable?-8track

So if I understand you correctly, your cable terminates in a male plug. Why not just get a 3.5mm coupler and a longer cable? No cutting or splicing. JL Audio includes one in their aux cable packaging.
