Hello, all. I have a 2005 Ram that I installed an Android HU in; a Joying model, specifically. My question is how to integrate SWAC, and I'll detail what I know/tried.
First, all my research indicated there was just one wire involved in the factory harness; pin 14 (PCI Bus). This was the last year before CANBUS, supposedly. According to Joying, if you only had one wire and pre-CANBUS, you only needed to connect to KEY 1. BTW, this HU has only two wires (KEY 1/KEY 2), unlike others that also have a ground for SWAC.
A direct connection from pin 14 to KEY 1 did nothing. No combination of keys 1/2 and pin 14 worked. So I got a Metra ASWC-1. I called Metra and asked if there was only one trigger wire, which of the two jumpers on the 3.5MM lead should I connect to pin 14, and they said the red wire.
I confirmed which wires I needed to connect to the harness (RED / pink/black). Set-up and recognition went fine, but nothing worked. Metra suggested re-mapping to Pioneer/Jensen or Metra OE radio, and I still had no luck.
I contacted Crutchfield and the tech confirmed I did it correctly and said he also would've advised contacting Metra first. They approved the return and conceded it mght just not be compatible.
I want to re-try integrating SWAC, but I'm at a loss as to what I'm missing. Does anybody have an idea about what to try? I even considered one of the PAC adapters, but couldn't see why that would help if the ASWC-1 didn't. Thanks in advance for your help.
