2013 Gen 1 Chevrolet Volt Low Level Converter Speaker Power Issues?

I have a 2013 Chevy Volt with non Bose system. I am trying to add a low level converter and aftermarket sub amp. I was able to tap into the rear right speaker wire and run it to the LOC. I have everything hooked up (amp turned on etc.) and no output from the LOC. I tested the tapped speaker wire and am getting less then 1 volt at 3/4 volume. Not sure where to go from here? I think my lack of sound is from the lack of speaker voltage. Does anybody have any experience with the non Bose Gen 1 Volts?

Have you verified it's not just that channel (check other rear speaker)? What is the amp? You can probably do without the LOC if this is truly less than 1 volt AC.My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

I’m adding a subwoofer and amp to the stock system. I do not have RCA’s in the back of my head unit. That’s why I need a LOC. I am just looking for a place to get a clean signal from the stock radio. The Chevy Volt has a really weird system that does not allow you to replace the head unit.

I should have been more clear. I understand this is a factory setup. To clarify so I don't misunderstand, you measured this 1 volt AC at the speaker wires and not at the output of the LOC, correct? Again, what is the amp you are using (brand and model)? If this truly is one volt or less AC, then it is likely already a low enough level to feed directly into the amp (no LOC needed). You could likely cut the end off an RCA cable and splice it in at your speakers. You'd connect the outer conductor to one speaker wire and the inner conductor to the other. Do this on both sides, observing polarity. If it seems you have no bass, unplug one RCA (left or right- doesn't matter) and you have bass all of a sudden, then just switch the wiring on one side (outer conductor/inner conductor).My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

Thank you for the reply. I am using an Axxera AX350DM amp. I tried hooking the multimeter to the speaker wire going directly to the speaker, and at over 3/4 volume I’m barely getting 1 volt. I don’t think it’s enough of a signal to produce any sound from the amp? I did try hooking the spliced RCA’s to the wire and into the amp. I had no sound. Again, this is the non Bose system in a gen 1 Chevy Volt. I can not replace the head unit or I would have. Not sure where to go?

I'd try to substitute a known goood amp. Just because it's new doesn't mean it works. I only saw 2 reviews on crutchfield, both 1 out of 5 stars.My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

I saw those reviews too. I get a green light when the amp comes on so I do not think that is the problem. I guess I will try another spot to get a clean signal. I thought somebody might have done this install on a Volt before? Thanks

Several times you mention "speaker wire". Are you not tied into both wires running to the speaker and making measurements using both wires (not wrt ground)?

Well, you were right! The Axxera amp is crap. I hooked up my Orion amp and it works great! It’s weird that I would not get an overload? It comes on with a green light and seems fine but no sound. Anyway? Thank you very much for the help!
