Is It Adviseable To Use Different Brand Subs On One Amp?

Hello guys and gals of the forum. I recently bought a new mono block amplifier, rated at 1250 watts rms, 1ohm stable. I had it hooked up to 2 12" 4ohm dvc subwoofers, of different brand name. I contacted the company i purchased the amp from, (its less than 3 mos. Old,) and was asked by their tech support if i had used 2 different brands of speakers in my setup. I informed him i did, and that both were of the same impedance, and that i had wired them in series. He said that because i used 2 diff brands, that the imp loads werent the same, and that the amp had received an impedance of lower than the amp could handle. This sounds like nonsense to me, and the guy is really trying to make me look stupid, iam assuming, to avoid honoring the warranty. Am i correct, or is this actually true? Thanks for any light you can shed my way! Oh. Yes the amp quit, which is why all this took place. Went into protection mode, and wouldnt come out. I might be wrong, but doesn't sound right to me either. I understand that the 2 subs were wired in series to 8ohm then in parallel to the amp , correct? So the amp would have seen a 4 ohm load. Even with some weird mismatching impedance response from sub to sub throughout the frequency range, I don't know how that would have caused an issue. I would love to hear from someone smarter than me to chime in on the theory here that mismatching subs would cause a blown amp.

Possum... for lack of a better phrase, the guy is full of it. NO AMPLIFIER CARES if there are different speakers connected to it. If that were the case, then a three-way crossover would cause the same issue, right? I mean, they're different drives, with difference impedance curves that overlap at the crossover point, aren't they? As long as the impedance remains in the safe range, preventing the current across the transistors of the output from exceeding the design limits of the device or circuit, then no amp will care.
