Hey folks!
I tried to come up with a way to use one of the steering wheel control momentary switches in a resistor ladder to also control a separate device.
For my project, this meant a "Front" Camera switch and a "Rear" Camera switch in the steering wheel controls. For example: You press the Front switch , the Stereo will display the 360 System's Front view and the Gauge cluster LCD screen will display a Front view camera.
Since the momentary switches are part of the resistor ladder, you can separately control accessories from each individual switch. This is where my idea comes in to play.
The momentary switch would instead supply a 12v Tigger to pin 86 of a relay (or I could make it supply ground to pin. 85). The Relay then connects its common pin (30) to the resistor/ground side of the resistor ladder and the N.O. pin (87) connects to the Kwy 1 /Key 2 wire.
In theory this looks like it should work, but I don't have 100% confidence as my knowledge is limited. This is why I am posting here hoping that some more knowledgeable people can look this over and give their opinion.
I want to thank everyone who took the time to view this post and/or comment their opinions.
Cheers!
