Hey there you all, finally got everything hooked up and was wanting some advice on what to do next. My vehicle is a 2000 Suburban. I have upgraded the electrical system to include a HOA from The Mechanical Man. Rated at 225 amps. I have a second battery in the back(twin Optima yellow tops). My amps are all PPI Powerclass amps from back in '98. I have the PC2350 running 2 JL Audio 18W6's and a PPI PC1400 running 3 JL Audio 12W6's. My problem is when at idle when my subs hit my lights dim quite a bit. I know that my HOA is putting out maximum output when not idling, but want to know if adding a couple of caps would help this at all? I know I am using alot with my current setup so I am not sure if caps would be worth the money. Any ideas would be great.

Caps might work as a bandaid, but will not fix the problem. The problem is as you stated, your HO alternator does not put out enough amperage at idle. Contact who you purchased if from and find out if you can adjust that output at idle.

See if you can change the pulley on the alt. if you put a smaller one on then it will turn faster. Don`t know if you can get diff size pulleys for it or not but it might be worth looking in to.

At high speeds you`ll smoke it if you change pulley sze. Especially if you do hard acceleration.

Just add one cap per 1000 watts your amps are putting out and it should fix it somewhat but your lights will always dim a little while idleing but it shouldnt as bad with some caps.
