Would it be overkill to put 2JL Audio 12W3 woofers to a JL Audio 500/1?

overkill? that would be a prime setup, which models of the 12w3 do you have; dual 4, dual 2, dual 6?

Dual 4 ohm? what kind of wiring set up should i use on it , Parallel, series, parallel-series, series-parallel?

series parallel. acheive a 4ohm setup for the amp to be at its peak without the heat of the 1.5 ohm setup
