Hello

I have a 2000 cavalier 2 door coupe and 1 feature i have with the car is that once i turn off the ignition the radio keeps playing until i open driver door. Since yesterday now when i turn off the car, open my door the radio or cd i have keeps on playing. Even when i lock my car and shut the doors it won't shut off unless i manually do it. I figure some electrical sensor is broken but can my battery be consumed if the radio still plays?

thanks

does the dome light  come on when you open the door if not you may have a problem with the door pin.  could also be a problem with the factory relay

yea it sound like there's something to do with the door trigger....is this a factory unit? or aftermarket?....in any case i'd take the headunit out.......test the wires to find your ignition wire (non constant 12v) and run a new ignition wire and fuse it.

It's the door pin switch. Happens all the time. The radio will shut off after 10 minutes. Get a new one from a GM dealer. Just grab the old one and pull it comes right out. Toss it and plug in the new one. If the car is under warranty let the dealer do it.

If it’s the door trigger switch it should shut off automatically after 20 minuets or so. But it’s defiantly the door switch or the RAP (Retained Accessory Power) relay, which is in the driver's side fuse box. Dose the dome light turn on and off when you open and close the door?
