Hello,

I have a Alpine deck (CDA-7875) and I believe the speaker amp is blown, I was wondering what would it cost to repair this? or could I do it myself?
The unit will power up just fine, and everything will function just fine, but there is no sound out of the speakers.
Thank You,
Mark

I doubt you can do it yourself, unless it's something blatantly obvious like a blown fuse or a wire that's pulled loose.  Have you tried hooking it up to an amplifier to make sure it's just the internal amp that's bad?  If it's only the internal amp, you should be able to use the preamp-level outputs to feed an external amp with no problems.

If the preamps are good, I'd recommend just using an inexpensive external amp.  It would probably cost less than having your internal amp fixed, and you'll likely get more power and a better sound.

what kind of car are you installing this in? does the car have an amplified system in it?you may have a speaker shorted to ground or a dead short across one of the voice coils. This will cause no audio on all channels.but first what kind of car?

If the speaker lead outputs are blown this would cost you about $ 80.00 to fix. That is how much we are charged by a company out of province to do the work for us if a customer brings in this type of repair.

sounds like you have a short on a spk.   Stevolon is right a short at a spk will cause the internal amp to shut down and you will get no sound. fastest  way to check: power unit up fade to front if unit has already cut out power down then power up again if  you have sound now you know  your short is in the rear. once you have determend the short is in the front or back use balance to determan witch side.

hope that helps
