im going to get a new deck, not sure of which one yet.n e reccomendations?my problem in i got a mustang 2000.there are a pair of speakers that handle lows in the front and a pair in the pair.i also got a pair of tweeters in the front and a pair in the back.my internal amp for the right side tweeter is deadso i guess i mite as well rewire the whole thing.how can i get it to put out a low and a high for the tweeter and and 5 1/2 speakers?decks have 4 channels, how would i do this thanks a lot.my first post by the way! how to install mb quart component system? -- posted image.

If you're getting a component system is usually consists of a woofer a tweeter and an external crossover module. You would connect the output to the input on the crossover. the crossover then has 2 outputs...one for the tweeter and one for the woofer.

the crossover has a high input and a low level input, i dont know where to get those from since a deck doesnt have those outputs.

The high level output should be for a normal output from a stereo going directly to the speaker. It is the high level out put because it is amplified inside of the head unit. I am assuming this is what you are dealing with. The low level input would be from an rca signal from the head unit. This low level signal is just a signal that gets sent to an external amplifier before it goes to the speaker.

soooooo theres 4 channels of speaker outputs from a headunit and i use those for the high level input.

and for the low level input i would need an external amp that is wired with the rca outputs from the head unit and then wired to the crossover to the speaker????

looks like some confusion here... the signal from EACH channel of the deck is used to drive a midbass AND a tweeter.

usually a little box of electronics is used to split the signal from the deck into bass for your 5 1/4 and highs for your tweeter. if it's a factory system it won't have a crossover, it will just have a capacitor on the tweeter. this capacitor will split the signal so the tweeter only plays high frequencies.

so, assuming your aren't using an amp, just run the speaker wire from the deck to both speakers (mid and tweeter) in parallel. parallel meaning positive of tweeter connected to positive of midbass connected to positive output from headunit. same for negative.

with a crossover, run speaker wire from headunit to crossover (high level input) and then the crossover has 2 separate outputs. 1 for your midbass, and 1 for the tweeter.

just do this for each channel (FL, FR, RL, RR)

oooo, i think i get it now

the crossover has a high level input and low level input and a tweeter output and woofer output

so youre saying i only use the high level inputs from the head unit right?

and leave the low level input unplugged?

Sounds correct to me. You just connect the speaker wires coming off of the head unit to the high level inputs of the crossover and then connect the crossover to the woofer and tweeter of the component system.
