Hi I have an 89 jeep wrangler that I want to put a good stereo system with Subs in, the old system was stolen before I bought the jeep. It doesn't have any speakers in it but It does have 2 6x9 boxes and I just bought a pioneer 200 watt head unit for $30 off ebay. What is the best sounding 6x9s and what size speakers should I get for the front. I was looking at pioneers 350 watt 4 way TS-A6980 and Lanzar Vibe series 3-way 6x9's, I read They are constructed in the way component speakers are, in that they do not have a hole through the middle of their cones, to hold the tweeter.

Best is all relative.  Shop around, and buy what your ears prefer, not what a spec sheet says, or necessarily what a buddy tells you.  In an open air vehicle like a Wrangler, you'll want something that'll handle plenty of power from you amp, and give you plenty of highs to overcome losses.

I like the pioneer 3 or 4 ways, but recently put sony explodes in my boat. It depends on deck, amp, preference and money!

If you want the alpine 6 X 9s to play loud then you are going to need an external amp because their sensitivity is only 88 DB which means these speakers arn't going to play as loud with your HU's amp as some speakers with a sensitivity of 92 DB or so. What you could do is buy the Alpine 6 X 9s ,a sub like Alpines Type R 2 ohm DVC 12" sub or JL's 12" W3v2 ,and a high powered 4 channel amp like Rockfords Power 551X. If you didnt want to spend as much you could buy Bostons FX series 6 X 9 speakers or Alpine's Type S 6 X 9s and a Kenwood 4 channel amp and Rockford Fosgate HE 12" sub or a JL audio W0 12" sub. With the first option you would use the boxes that came with your jeep for the 6 X 9 speakers and run them off of the 2 front channels on the Rockford Amp. Then you could bridge the back 2 channels of the Rockford amp to power the 12" sub. You might not need the amp if you wanted to buy the cheaper alpine Type S or Boston 6 X 9s but It would still play louder then with your HU's amp. You could also buy a set of component speakers instead like Boston's FS series or Alpines Type R series. Component speakers love amps.If you get a sub that is has a dual voice coil it needs to be a 2 ohm dual voice coil so you can wire it like this and your amp will see a 4 ohm load.

6x9's a a complete waste of space if you have a sub.  They are designed for moderate bass performance, and suck at eveything else, they over do mids.   Just get a sub, amp, and a component speaker set up front and it will sound great!.
