that product by Eclipse? It was a center channel speaker setup that mounted on the back of the rearview mirror or something like that.

I have a 1995 F-150 Ext. cab and I'm halfway considering a center channel just b/c I have never had one before. Anyone have any ideas? There are no speaker locations at all in the dash and I don't feel like making any simply b/c I don't have time to take out the dash to do so. I guess there's not much I can do in that case but I just wanted to run it by and see if there are any ideas.

That's interesting. I don't have a DIN and a half opening but that's still cool. I could work with that. Anyone else?

You're thinking of the Eclipse ESG-8220. Nice for a center channel setup.

Have you used/heard one? Also about the clarion too... has anyone used one of those? how do they perform? I've thought about the Eclipse one and the logic behind it and wonder if it's really something that is impressive or not.... you know, sound waves reflecting off the windshield?

Remember that a center channel is supposed to simply reinforce the upper mids and highs to focus the soundstage towards the front of the car.

The Eclipse unit includes phase control to keep the reflected sound in phase with the main speakers. I've used them and they work great. I used a Carver center channel processor and a PPI amp to drive it. I have not used the Clarion, but I did get a chance to listen to one at the CES. Pretty good fidelity for five 1-inch drivers.

I will keep my eyes open for it. I had once seen an Audio Control processor for a center channel. This device sat on my boss' "giveaway" shelf for a long time. I have left the establishment and I don't know if it's still there. Do you guys know what it could be or do?

A center channel is something I've never tried before so if I sound a little reluctant to be as "expressive" as I've been in other posts, that's the reason why.

I have an Audax 4" woofer and a Dynaudio soft dome tweeter mounted where my ashtray used to be for my center channel right now. Allows me to have more full-range toal control.

That's interesting. I've never considered that. I remember ppl used to put small speakers in their air vents back in the 80s. Any other suggestions? I am going to build a console in my truck and may incorporate that Clarion unit there. The Eclipse one looks cool but it looks like it may give an uneven reflection b/c of the way different ppl have their rear view mirrors tilted.

Anyone else with some stuff? This is giving me lots of ideas.
