I been reading around some on SQL speakers and it seems that Adire Audio's Brahma seems to be one of the best for it's price. Was going to put it into a vented enclosure with about 2 cu. ft. of air and tuned to around 24 Hz. I'm going to use the MA Audio Sy7011DX amp because it is both 1 Ohm and 4 Ohm stable. I have the box setup so I can run it at 750 watts at 4 Ohms for daily driving and wire it up for 1 Ohm at 1500 watts when I just want it to be loud. The box won't allow it to exceed 50 mm of peak to peak excursion at 1500 watts and the Brahma maxes at 56 mm peak to peak. I'm also aware that 1500 watts is only going to give me at max an extra 3 Dbs.

Now that you know the entire life story of my audio adventure I was just curious as to what others think about this setup. Anyone know of any other amps that are one 1 ohm stable at put out around 1600 watts and put out roughly half of that at 4 Ohms?

Thanks for any help.

Well.... If you have a considerable amount of cash look at boston's amps. They are capable of being bridged and still hanling a 2 ohm load. Their GT-28 is capable of 1000 watts at 2 ohms bridged and 700 watts at 4 ohms bridged(you have to click on quick specs on the right side to view power ratings on their website). JL makes an amp called the 1000/1 that outputs 1000 watts RMS from 1.5 to 4 ohms which is kind of flexible also. I dont know if you know this or not but as you get a lower ohm rating an amplifiers damping factor (control of the speaker) drops drastically. The JL has some feature that is supposed to have really good damping at any imepdance though I think. Both of these amps are in about the same price range.

brahma is 28mm one way,btw..its still alot tho,lol..

the SQ part will be affected by the amp, not entirely a clean producing amp, but it works.

this is what adire recommends for vented box-1.5 to 2.5 cubic feet tuned to 30 Hz

I need quality equipment, feel free to donate.

Thanks customsuburb, I totally forgot the impedence fact. I probably didn't do it right in WinISD but I just changed the series resistence on the signal source tab of the driver. Don't know if anyone here uses WinISD. I think those amps are a little out of my price range though. My friend has two 15'' Audiobhans and I'm going to try and make mine louder than his system with one 12'' for the same price of his system, but I still want it to sound good.

I know the Brahma can swing 28 mm one way Maxst, peak to peak excusion measures how far the sub will swing from one extreme to the other. I know it's a lot too, that's why I picked it. I didn't realize how much more that is than the other ones until I started comparing. I'm trying to get the flattest response possible with the vented enclosure and the Adire Audio recommended ones gave a pretty big peak, which would be good for SPL but not SQ. Although after modifying the resistence I found that they are pretty close so I think I'll set the port up to be tuned at 25 Hz at first and then keep cutting it down until I find a good tune.

I really appreciate all the help. I'll probably end up building a couple of boxes before I'm happy with it, maybe even try an ABC box just for the heck of it. This will save me a lot of work though.
