Hey .. I ordered some of those sosche 6x9 to 6.5 universal adapters from crutchfield. The things look cheap as hell and I'd have to make modifications to them for the speaker basket of my quarts to fit so I'm going to scratch that idea and build some.

I only have about 3/4 inch to work with, so I can't do 3/4 inch MDF. Also, I hear that if MDF gets wet (its for my front doors) it turns to slosh. Does anyone have an opinion about the BEST way to build and mount a speaker bracket for a pair of components in the door? Anyone have a bookmark just perfect for me? Thanks,

Anyone? I know you guys have experience installing speakers in the doors. :-)

ABS IS A GOOD ALTERNATIVE,IT'S PLASTIC AND IT STRONG, BUT MY QUESTION IS WHY WOULD MDF GET WET IN YOUR DOORS?

Why not just make some fiberglass kickpanels. Those quarts will sound better in kickpods then in the door anyway.

I would do fiberglass kicks, I've done them before ... but there is simply no room for them in my car. :/

Well, they probably won't have any direct contact w/ water, but won't some moisture seep into the doors when it rains? Will MDF maintain its rigidity against this sort of moisture? If so, then I'll just do 1/2 inch MDF.

I'd use exterior grade plywood for those. You could get 1/2" or 1/4".

Or 1/2" mdf coated with fibreglass resin.

What would happen if you stretched some fleece cloth over those brackets and put a coat of resin on it?
