With no load on the amps they will not be functioning, so yes.

The amps still function but they dont do anything, if that makes any sense. They dont shut off or anything but they arent powering speakers so the amp isnt really drawing any signifigant voltage or anything.

keep in mind tho that the output stage is still active.....so even if you are not using deck power, if you leave a wire bare you can still blow the output of the onboard power IC...even if you are not using the deck power make sure to crimp cap or tape up every speaker wire......

Yeah today my cd player the 940 was working fine. I got out and turned the car off, when I came back it would not turn on. I later reset it and it worked for a while. Now it won't work anymore. Anyhelp.

You said "...it would not turn on. I later reset it and it worked...".  What resetting method did you use?  How could it be reset if it didn't have power?

There is a button on the face, I pressed it in with a pen and it lit up. Now it won't do that.

Sounds like the problem lies in the head unit, then.  But check the ground connection, 12v power and blue switched wire.

I checked the ground and power wire, what is the blue switched wire? Is that the remote turn-on?

how did yu "check the power wire". Did you actually use a meter and check for voltage or did you just look at the wire and figure it was fine. Be sure to meter the wire. Also check out the red ignition wire and make sure it carries 12v when the cars on.
