i had been waiting on my Kicker SS 5 1/4 components since mid july, they were the only seller to have these on ebay so i was all kool with it. i just got a reply back today informing me there has been a screw up, and they are wanting me to look at other options.
1) i was looking at the Phoenix Gold Titanium Elite 6.5's, or 5 1/4's i'll have to do some work on my door mounts possibley to fit 6.5's. however thats not my quarl, i have a Soundstream TR800.5, and it will output 50watts @ 4ohms x 4 and 100@2ohms, since the Elites handle an RMS of 300, will i even push these heafty beasts, or would i find better quality in a lower model with a RMS closer to 100?
side note, for another brand, how are Boston acoustics sound? should i stick to PG or actually look at the boston acoustics as an option,
BA model is ProSeries 6.5 (is what i was looking at)
also; because my speakers cost more than any other brand they have now on sale, what should i do if i have over 100$ extra? give it to them as a present for being so kind and helpful (sarcasm out the *** there ;/), or spend it up, and what could i look for, i've got the amp, rears, and rears if i purchase from these guys...
i've also run into the problem of mounting the crossover, with the SS series the crossover was built around the speaker, which appealed to me because i didnt want one to be seen or manually mounted, but now i've run into that issue.
in some sense i feel like getting all pissed off and starting trouble because of this, its 500$ i could have spent elsewhere with less hassle and better service, and attain my product because it was actually in stock, and on the other hand i just want to get this over with and want everything to be square between both parties -_-. such a bunk way to end a night

I like PG but would take Boston Pros anyday of the week. The new PG stuff isnt bad but isnt near the quality of the older stuff where as I find the Boston stuff has always been top shelf, esspecially in the pro series componets. Can you listen to these speakers at any local shops. If you can choose them that way.

if anyone could tell me if the PG comp elites 5 1/4's (250RMS) will be powered sufficiently from my TR800.5 (50wx4 @4ohm 100x4 @ 2ohm), please give me your thoughts, sorry for the ramblings,

I've had both PG and Boston (both older) and also choose Boston any day of the week, as far as component or coaxials go. If it were subs I'd go with the Titanium Elite 12 any day...but that's another story. Had some 4" Boston Pro's in the dash of a 94 regal that were (and still are - but I don't own it anymore) amazing.

I'm sure they will sound great with that amp for now, but if you save up and buy a bigger amp for them on down the road you'll say "wow dude, I should've done that a long time ago!"

well i thought it over, and i've came up with this, and the seller has agreed and i should have my items by next monday, or soon after.
PHOENIX GOLD TI 5 COMP ELITE 5.25" TITANIUM SET
PHOENIX GOLD TEQP4 4 BAND PARAMETRIC EQ
i got thinking about the boston acoustics, and the reason i went with PG over BA, is 1) i've heard more about pg in the past being such a good company, i knew if i went with them i still wouldnt be dissapointed, and secondly, i dont have alot of mounting space, and the 1 crossover for PG setup could work nicely if i tuck it under the dash somewhere, i dont want much if anything showing to de-tur would be thiefs,
The 4 band EQ was just the topping to the cake, i didnt expect they would allow me to get it, but its worked out great.
now my system is fairly unbalanced in power, where my fronts will beable to handle 300rms and my rears only 65 lol. but since it is only rearfill someday- i may buy a 2ch amp with enough juice to push the PG somethin hard :-), but all in all, im fairly happy.
Thanks for the input guys, im thinking BA in the back as rearfill if i ever upgrade the rear speakers. just something to accentuate the highs.
