What to use to seal removeable panels?

What do you guys use as a seal for panels that you need to be able to remove later?  I used plumbers rope caulk in a 4th order enclosure 15 years ago and it worked well.  Was wondering if there was something better?

you can use closed cell foam tape. (the type use for weather proofing windows/doors)
