Has anyone seen a rather interesting little issue that I am having. We are using the Scosche radio relocation harness, model# GM06, antenna adaptor MDA1. Installing a new Pioneer DEH1600 cd player. Wiring is of course fine, colors all match up. New dash speaker installed for door chimes. Here is where it gets interesting. Take out the key, radio continues to play, open the door - radio continues to play. Plays for 15 seconds and shuts off. Wait any period of time and open the door, the radio turns on and plays for 15 seconds and turns off - no keys in the ignition. Put the keys in and the new unit works as it should until the keys come out and the sequence will repeat itself. Radio static has also been heard out of the new door chime speaker that is coming from the newly relocated factory cd player. (as of yet unmounted and sitting on the floor of the trunk). We have tried this with the factory radio on and off. Installing the fatory radio in the dash yields what should happen, radio runs until the door opens and then turns off. I'm going to double check my wire runs for nicks but don't expect to find any.

Sounds the ign wire on the head unit isn't seeing the key being removed...And the wire is waiting to "fall asleep" for the key to be removed...i dunno, never had this problem.

New info, the ignition line is being pulsed every 30 seconds. It stays live for 30 seconds and then shuts down and goes live again. No keys in the ignition. No nicks or shorts in the new wire that was run.

so you've relocated the factory radio or you've used a data interface?   sure sounds like a class II issue.....

It has definitely got me boggled, I'm going to hard wire the ignition line and leave the data bus and relocation alone. Should solve my issues and leave the customer with door chimes.

if you relocated the radio and ran a new acc/ign lead then there shouldnt be any "RAP" like circumstance at all.... the radio will shut off as soon as the ign is cycled off.... ( at least any of the ones i've done )

if you use the data interface it will give you a RAP feature similar to the factory radio.... i've never experienced this problem using the Metra data interfaces.... but it's possible it's a glitch with the Scosche unit.... do you have a similar Metra harness you could try?   if you are using a data interface and you meter the acc circuit it provides, are you reading a come and go voltage?

I just did one of these in the same car last week, no issues at all. Thing turned off when you opened the door and stayed off until the keys were in the ignition and turned to on. This one goes on and off with the door, no keys necessary. The little glitch shows +12v on the acc line for exactly 15 seconds, drops out for 1 second (maybe less) and comes live again and repeats over and over. Time to move the ign lead for the deck to the trusty old tried and true pink ignition wire at the ignition harness. I'd sure like to know where this flying gremlin is hiding, I'm sure that someone will see him again.

Sure ask me now that the vehicle is gone. The scosche harness actually has a ignition lead on it. I'll have it back in the next day or so. If I find this little bastard gremlin, I'm going to throat punch him. Wierd stuff, the 04 Sunflower we did last week with the same harness gave no issues at all, worked fine as it should. This customer now wants the unit to work on ACC and IGN, not just IGN where I wired it to. Seems I'll be changing this to a new circuit as well in the next day or so. This still doesn't help me find the gremline though. I really want to find out wtf is going on incase I ever see it again.

That throat punch line is exceptional. I seem to think that I had this problem before but it was the other tech who was doing the car, and he is the one who fixed it. Ill talk to him tomorrow and see if he remembers but I am pretty sure it had something to do with were the ignition line was tapped into. You should just be able to go to accessory and ignore the ignition line all together as it should not interfere in the door chime system at all. I hate gms, I drive one but I hate the damn things, they were all built by gremlins to start with so its noit uncommon for them to become a natural habbitat for them to exist in. Get a can of Raid and a baseball bat and let me know how it goes.
