the other day, my uncle asked me about a 24volt am/fm stereo for his track-ho. Does anyone know anyplace I can search for an am/fm stereo that requires 24volts, or an inverter I can use to replace his current stereo with an aftermarket hu? The current stereo only pics up am stations and theres never anything good on it. Any suggestions?

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

LOVE the handle! I wonder if anybody ELSE gets it? 24v radio -- posted image.
A less expensive option, and if you are only running a deck would be a three terminal fixed voltage regulator. The TO-3 versions are rated to 20 amps, i think, and MORE than adequate to run a deck. Or, you might be able to actually find a 24 volt stereo. Here is a forum I was able to locate on the subject. Check that out. I am at work, so I can't do much research, but there's a start...
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

He's probably running two 12v batteries in series on that track hoe.. just tap off one of the 12v batteries to get 12v.

Does It Look Like I Give A Flip?

yup, thats what DILLIGAF means...

Actually, he is running two 12v batteries in series, I'd forgotten all about just being able to run it off of one battery. Thanx for refreshing my memory

of COURSE... If you are going to use this solution, make sure you connect the negative wire to the chassis, (obviously) but the positive wire needs to tap the wire BETWEEN the batteries... also, the remote CANNOT be connected to the ignition or accessory wire (if they exist), you just have to make sure the radio is always turned off...
