Which part of the wire needs to be fused

Hello,

On a STDT relay,  Contact 30 which feeds amps,crossover,neons..etc..Should the fuse be right after the contact 30 output, or as close to the accessories as possible(amps,neons..etc)???

On one of the diagrams I reviewed on this site shows the fuses near the accessories, Is that right?

This is probably a dumb question, but thats the only thing im missing out on

"A fuse is generally inserted into an electrical circuit for 1 of 2 reasons, either to protect the power source which includes the wire which connects the power supply to the electrical device, or to protect the electronic equipment."

As shown on the diagram, the power source and wire is protected by a fuse at the leading end of the wire to the connect terminal #87.  That is the #1 reason stated here.  The 2nd reason here is to protect the devices, in that the wires are not fused for protection, just the devices.  Each will have a dedicated fuse according to each need.  And so, the fuse may be placed anywhere along the wire that fits into the installation, but close to the device (as shown) is best.  Since these fuses are the first to blow if anything wrong happens at the device, you want the fuses to be easily accessible.

The relay forum could probably give you better help, but I think this should help make some sense of it.
