I ran new 2 guaeg to trunk and hooked up the ground and power wire to my new PG Tantrum 300.2 i ran the new rcas on oopposite side one amp that was already connected isstill their my alpine mrv320 it has 10guage running to it with a 10guage ground. since i didnt have a distro block i left the alpine with teh 10guage and 2guage to the tantrum. ok. i connected EVERYTHING correctly i double checked. my components ( on the alpine amp) work fine sub isnt working. i t urn volume down i here a weird noise turn volue to 0 go to trunk open lid the SUB is moving in and out very littly but no bass? it was sort of popping. the sub is connected to the tantrum amp. is the amp bad or did i blow the sub or both. the tantrum amp had the correct blue light on. and i am recieveing 12V at the + and - inpurs on both amps when car is off. i doubel checked everything. I connected the sub to the alpine and configured it for a sub and the sub still works on it. before getting the new amp components were on deck power and sub off alpine. my system went from darn good to me to very crap now. is the AMP bad ? what is wrong can anyoen please help me?

so are you saying that the sub sounds fine if you connect it back to the alpine amp?

double check the polarity of the speaker wiring....the sub should be moving outward, not inward.

also, unplug the sub from the amp and test it for resistance.  should get something like 2, 4, or 8 ohms, depending on how it's wired up.  What kind of sub is it (brand/model #)?

Also, make sure that the sub amp is getting a proper signal.  You could verify this by swapping the RCAs between the alpine amp and the tantrum amp.  If the speakers stop playing, and sub starts playing, then either the sub RCAs are not connected properly, or a setting on the head unit or alpine amp (whichever is providing the rca connection to the sub amp) is incorrect.  if you used the subwoofer preouts on a head unit, a lot of times those will come disabled by default, but can usually be easily changed through the audio settings.

the sub works fine when connected back to the alpine amp as it was workign before getting this tantrum amp.
and the RCA's are fine because when connected back to alpine amp i get sub wokring properly. ALl the deck settings are correct. Ill test the resistance on sub tomorow (JL 12W3V2 D2). Deck is a 9831 ALpine so the  component RCA's are seperate from teh SUB out RCA's. So are you saying that the amp is fine i really think its the tantrum amp thats bad.

i mean i put a volt mere set to DCV. Put the postive from meter to the positive connection on tantrum amp and negative on the amp to negative on meter and it reads 12V so i know the amp is getting power. anythign else i should test here?

test to make sure you are getting a signal through the rca's going to your sub amp   Thats about the only thing I can think of right now

big748...all bolt type hurts.

You've eliminated the sub as the problem by switching it to the Alpine, but did you connect the other speakers to the Tantrum amp and see if they work?  You should be able to verify exactly what the culprit is by switching connections between all your system components.

You DID swap the RCA's that were originally plugged into the Tantrum into the Alpine and they worked fine plugged into the Alpine? If that is the case then it's pretty much the amp (PG, that is).
If you didn't try this, then it's possible you speared the RCA's with a screw or something. Or the amp.

YES it is the PG amp gone bad did the swap with buddys pg 300.2 amp  and damn lets just say i never though that this 1 12jl12w3v2 could hit so hard. its pounding like never before and the sub is reaching greater excursion than before. i guess the amp got damaged in shipping time to notify UPS!
