I have heard that "digital" amps can cause interference in radio reception, especially when mounted in the trunk near the antenna. And I wonder if this is happening to my car because lately my reception hasn't been as strong as it once was. Any validity to this? How can it be resolved?

I suppose it is possible because of the high switching speeds used so that the digital circuitry can simulate analog AC (ie: sound) but they should have proper RF shielding to prevent it. If you are hearing increased static on certain stations then yes, it is possible. If your reception has simply decreased across the board, it is not likely due to amplifier produced RF. If your reception is worse with an aftermarket head unit as compared to an OEM one, then certainly that is true as most aftermarket tuners are not that sensitive.
