I have a 04 silverado extra cab that I will be having two amps installed behind the rear seat and 2 subs install , also a pair of 6.5 components in the door, and finally a head unit. How much do you think it should cost me to get all of this installed?  I already have all the wiring and parts needed, so just a price for install?  I have a buddy who installed for Sema cars doing the install for me , I was just wondering how much I should pay him to do it? He wont want any money but I will pay him anyways. Thanks for the help!

Keep track of the time and pay him $40 an hour.

I install her in alaska and for that install I would charge around 300.00 to cut you a break sice you have the parts, but not sure what it would cost anywhere else i consider my prices to be the best in town here. I am always hearing im the cheapest her this gets me a lot of business and my boss has lots of money his prices are low on installs but is hell on equipment though it seems that prices jump very high from lower 48 prices, I have been told it is shipping

40 to 45 dollars an hour would be a fair price.

around here we charge per component, ( regardless of time )  unless it's custom work in which case it's by the hour....i suspect $200-300 labour plus parts is what you'd pay a stranger...if he's a good friend and you're paying for the install supplies give him a hundred bucks and take him out for drinks & dinner.....if he's just a guy you know a couple hundred would be fair.....

if you want to pay him what anyone else would pay him just ask......  my friends usually pay me for all the materials, make sure to bring "tribute" ( beer ) and then buy me dinner afterwards, but its still much cheaper than  paying me the $60 pr/hr i would charge a stranger....

Wow the rest of the country is much higher than South Florida

I did a quick survey of the closet shops to me in a 30 mile radius and here are the results (Fax numbers are wonderfull, this info was for last year around October)

91 Induvidual shops
Most charge by the component
Less than 35 % charge a flat rate

Flat rate average is $25.00 a hour

Component charges:
HU: $30 Kit and Wire Included
AMP: $45-$55 with 70% include wire  30% $10-$20 average  for wire
Speakers: $20-30

Custom jobs were not quoted

So my conclusion is that if you have a lot of competition in the area you cant get away with charging a ton of money
Personally my system was installed for only 80 bucks a great deal in any part of the country

I live in canada, its 65$/hour here. (NWT). but i dont let anyone else install my stuff. I'll do a job for free. I have done many of them, new cars, old cars, trucks, etc... My latest install was a 2003 dodge dakota. 2 10" pioneers, 990watt amp, cd player. I do it for free because I love installing. and i make loads of money at my real job. Heh, but the chances of you living in yk is zilch, so good luck finding a cheap installer.
