I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on Rorckford Punch P3 subs.  I have 2 Rockford HE2 12's right now, but I want to go down to 10" instead ( I listen to more and more rock music, so I think 10's will be better).  I work at Best Buy (I'm an installer), so I can get these subs which are normally $200 ba piece, for $87 a piece.  I'm just wondering if anyone has ever had any problems with them or not.  I haven't seen too many come back to my bay, but I thought I would ask ya'lls opinion anyways.  I'm pushing them with a Rockford Punch 601S amp.  Thanks in advance.

I have had serious issues with cones cracking up here in Canada but I am sure it is due to exxcessive play without warming up the system in an extremly cold enviroment. I dont know where you live but if its cold I might shy away. Sound wise though, for the money they are fine. BTW you shouldnt be teling people what you pay for stuff at staff discount, its an integrity issue as outlined in your emplyee package, if you care.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa...

Why do you think 10" would be better than a 12" for rock music?  Sounds like a guess based on urban legend or misunderstanding to me.

There really is no reason to step down to 10's for the kind of music you listen to. If they sound muddy or not clear, then you should change the enclosure they are in, not the subs. If you like the sound tight and crisp, then go with a sealed enclosure, or a ported enclosure tuned to a higher frequency.

the pl3, which is the punch 3 in the rockford ported enclosure is awsome im hitting madd bass with just 1 12" running 1000 watts into it. and it get -60  here in alaska, no problems as long as you let the sub worm up a bit. great sub one of the best in the price range

Well, I guess that what each person thinks sounds good is a matter of opinion..haha.  I see what you're saying, but I think I would like to go back down to 10's.  I had them in the past, then went to 12's and I can hear a big difference.  Of course, I'm a recording engineer, so I guess I'm picky about those things.  Anyways, thanks for the help, and I'll let you know how it goes.  I should be getting the new subs on Tuesday, so we'll see how it sounds then.  Thanks guys!
