I have 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I bought a cd player for my car. I wired everything up properly and turned the system on. It played for like 5 minutes but i forgot to put electric tapes over the wires so a spark shot and my cd player system shut off and wont work. I bought a new fuse and a new cd player but still wont work. Can wires blow.

You most likely have 2 differant fuses for the stereo. One will be labeled "radio" and that contols the switched or accessory power lead. The constant 12 volt lead is usually hooked into the "cig. lighter" fuse on older GM cars. ALWAYS insulate all wires before powering up.

The "cig lighter" fuse is most likely blown. Find it and replace it.

Go to the fuse block, look for the fuse labeled " cig lighter" pull this fuse out and replace it with one with the same amp rating.

Hahah, yeah, I'm watchin' it.
This happened to me, actually. On my first attempt at a cd player install. It turned out it blew the whole cd player.
