Hey guys. Long time no post. A buddy of mine just got a new 2005 4 runner v8 and wants to upgrade the crappy factory system with new speakers and a sub while keeping the factory head. Sounds easy right? Well, he also wants to keep his rear space-no big box in the back and do it all for 500 bucks or less. I need some suggestions on quality lower priced gear (amps, speakers, sub). Also any suggestions what to do about the sub since he's against the box?

Yes, take him into Wal-Mart and ask him to pick things out, maybe then he'll change his budget and misconceptions about what a system should cost. Might be good for a laugh as well, don't tell him why you need to take him there, just tell him you need him to come with you to go there.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
