Going to put this in a 2001 Grand Am w/stock stereo. Will on be pushing one 10" sub (dont what kind yet) in bridge mode. Should I use the smart engage or buy an LOC?

I would just use the high level inputs on that amp. This way you won't have to run a seperate remote on wire to it.

OK, Finally put the amp in. New problem: I am using the smart engage on the amp without remote wire. Once the car and stereo are off, I noticed the amp is still on. Is there a delay before it shuts off?

Disconnecting the hi-level inputs will turn it off as well as switching the x-over switch.

What should I do?

I would look into a remote wire.

Way back in the day someone (a shop) installed an amp in my car and hooked the remote to 12V constant (the battery was deas overnight). Sounds like you have a smiliar issue where the smart engage is ready constant for the remote turn on and it keeps the amp on even after the HU is off. If there is a delay it would be 1 min or less.

Thanks for the info.

I think it'll be alright. Looks like the delay is about 20 min. I think because the caps are slowly discharging in the amp until finally the voltage drops enought that power is cut off. Not worried about draining battery becuase the amp is not drawing large amounts of current in this state.

I don't know man. When my battery died I had a 4 channel kenwood and I was on overnight for like 8 hrs (granted the battery was a few years old but still). I jumped the card battery but the bat would not charge (the alt was good).
