I bought a car with the DDX7015 double din TV and cd player. The problem is that the thing needs a code to get into it. Nobody knows the code and Kenwood told me I would have to take it to the service center. They want a fortune to unlock it. Is there anyway around this.

Unfortunately no. Most Kenwood service centers are independantly owned. Try calling them all until you find somebody not so greedy and then ship the unit to them.

Asking for radio unlock codes are against forum rules. Sorry, this thread will probably be deleted.

I've never been a real dealer so this may sound stupid, but what is this code for? Is this an anti-theft feature?

Yes Nik, it is. The stupid intent is that the thief with alll of his car stereo brand knowledge will recognize that this is in fact a theft code radio and say " Duh, maybe I should break into another car".

All mine are turned off, I hate that feature

Now a trick that may or may not work, no guarantees here but take the unit completely apart and look for a battery inside it, just like a BIOS battery inside a computer, if you take it out for 10 minutes or so if should reset the unit to factory settings, unless the unlock codes are hard coded into the radios firmware in which case you have to send it to Kenwood

It may or may not work, Ive only seen one radio with a battery inside for firmware features

Pm Dyohn. There used to be a sticky about it, he will delete any radio unlock code requests. Just trying to detour thieves.

Yeah, if it looses power then it will go into secure mode require a code to be used again. Just like the good ol factory headunits.
