 iam running 2 10inch jl subs on a 100ix sedona ppi amp bridged to 180, i am going to get a jl component set and another amp,is there much differance between profile california, mtx thunder, soundstream, and pheonix gold? im in the market for an affordable amp, due to the money limit my wife has set.good amps? -- posted image. i might also switch amps and run the ppi on component and power subs on new amp, i just need 200 rms bridged 4 ohm.

what JL 10's are they the WO's the profile amps are lower end then the others you have in mind i would go with any of those brands do you only want 200 rms or can your subs only handle 200rms ?? also i dont think soundstream makes an amp that small  you can check out www.ikesound.com that may help your price limit

Some argue that amps don't sound any different, I however disagree and feel that they do. So no that profile would not be on my list. The other ones you mentioned are pretty solid amps.
When dealing with older amps like that PPI, I feel they are not as efficient as newer amps. Its no that they sound bad but often lack features that come with newer amps.
Your best bet is to find one that has features that you need. Like variable x-over points, soft start, etc.

dwarren is right look at all the features you need  and dont go by peak power ratings at all  you may want to go with an amp thats 200 or 250 at 4 ohms and a class d
