I just bought a pioneer gm-7100m(returned for different one already, thinking the first one was defective). Its a mono-block amp rated at 360 watts rms @ 2ohms. I have it pushing 2 alpine type-e's wired in parallel for a 2ohm load. The pioneer amp cuts off all the time! Gain on head-unit and amp on low settings. Can anyone help?

Amplifiers cut out for a variety of reasons, including too low ohm load (have you metered your setup? Do you have any shorts in speaker wires or shorts to ground? How about while it is playong or your car is moving?) too high gain (how did you deside to set it where it is?) bad input signal (have you tried different RCA cables? Are you using an LOC?) too low system voltage (have you metered your voltage at the amp with the system playing? Is your ground secure to bare metal on the vehicle's chassis?) high heat (how hot is the amp getting?) or yes, it could be defective. Or your speaker(s) could be defective. More information and a few tests are in order before we can help you.
