ok i went to charge my digital cap i grounded the (-) side and then hooked my test lip clip to the (+) side of the cap and touched the other end of the test light to the positive side of the battery and it starts to charge but it gets to 10 volts and kinda of blinks but seems to not go any higher how long doest it take to get to 12 volt? Another question is let say this is as far as it will charge as soon as i disconect it to move it to the truck the voltage drops on the meter, am i suppose to try to charge it after its in the truck or charge it before hand and then just connect it all together. i also read on here if its a digital cap you dont need to charge it is that true. But what would be the best way to connect it? do i disconnect the negative cable of the battery then wire everything up then connect the negatvie or take the fuse out or disconnect the positive of the battery and wire everything up then put the positive battery terminal back on. just want to do this right. sorry for the n00b questions. and yes i have searched and read but i am making shure.

i had a digital cap and i just charged it when i first got it, then after that i could just take it out and put in it when i wanted with out charging it. now all i do is hook it right up, teh positive to the battery and the ground grounded to a different place then all my amps.  you can try charging it while the car is running, but just try hookin it up and see what happens

You don't need to get it all the way to 12, once you get to around 10 just connect it as usual.
