was reading in another forum about using big 40" fullrange ribbon speakers such as Bohlender Graebner planar magnetics speakers in a car along with a couple of subs like 2 12" and perhaps 2 mid bass woofers.  Has anyone ever heard of this and/or what do you guys think of such a setup?

thanks

And some more search results here.

You can do anything you want if you have the time, money and space.  No installation is impossible with the right budget.  But some things are better ideas than others.  I for one think things like you've suggested are simply silly and would sound terrible in the long run, but then again I also think putting a wall of 12 subwoofers with 10,000 watts of amplifier power into a daily driver, or using "inverted speaker mounting" to show off cheap-azz chrome-plated baskets is silly too, but people will do what they like and that's fine.
