Well i got all the connection needed in relocating my stock deck in a 02 alero how ever I can't figure out why the new deck won't go on it will just go on when i connect the red wire to the yellow constant. But when connected to the red on the harness nthing happens. What do I have to connect that red wire to turn on and off with door and ignition

well what kind of harness did you use?what brand? you need to find out why there ain't no power there. well actully you need to get a multimeter and check for voltage at the red wire and see what you have for voltage if any. then trace the wire back to the fuse and see if you have voltage coming out at the fuse the fuse could look good but be bad. so check with a meter or test light. if still ok then the wire for the aftermarket harness could be in the wrong place in the connector or you have a bad power wire. if it worked befor i would say its in the wrong location on the harness connector. and will need to do some test with the meter to find where it is or the route of the problem.

Ihave the harness BHA2204T Best KITS & Harnesses from bestbuy i doublechecked on the internet and this is the proper kit for my car. The red wire in the deck is ok cause when connected to the contant yellow wire the deck powers up. However when connected to the red wire and car started nothing happens. But is there any other way to test it instead of testing the wire for valtage. Could I just cut the red wir from the harness on both sides then connect the red one without harness?

Was your door opened or closed when you were testing this?

at this point i need to suggest to take it to the local radio shop if you don't have access to a meter.

if you still don't want to do that then run your own switched power to the hu from the fuse box or even better the ignition just make sure you fuse the wire with a 10 amp fuse and use a source thats off when the trucks off and on when in acc.

use a test light if you cant use a meter they are cheap, multimeters are cheap too. always confirm the wire in question before you connect anything to your car.
