Powered Subwoofers

I am looking to get one of the small powered sub for my truck (because of size constraints) and I am looking at the Clarion SRV303. This one seems to be the perfect size to fit under the passenger bucket. I was also looking at the Kenwood wOOt and the SW1 also.

I am not going to get earth-shattering bass I know but at least enough to clean up the lows.

How does the Clarion compare to the others I mentioned?

I've heard a lot of bad things about Clarion... Since I've never dealt with their products first hand I'm not going to talk crap about them, but when you hear as many things as I've heard about them it makes me start to wonder...

How small of an amp are we talking about? If its a real small amp, I could recommend some other companies that would make your jaw drop for not that much money either. I know not everyones into getting "top-of-the-line" equipment, but in my personal opinion, I would rather have something that is high quality and is going to last me a while instead of having to go out and get something new in a couple of weeks. Of course I have a limit when it comes to how much I'm willing to pay to get that high quality product, but everyone has there limit. Unfortunately, for my wallet my limit is pretty high. haha!

Anyway if your set on Kenwood then go with them. By the way, what kind of truck is this going into? I'm really into truck stereo systems. I'm actually working on a pretty big project right now with a truck. I guess it is because the whole car and suv/van scene is so cliche. With all that room and a wad of cash its very easy to go big on a stereo system. It ain't so easy with a truck! Guess I like to challenge myself!!

Thanx for the heads-up. I am installing this into a 1990 Toy 4x4 SR5 ext.cab pickup. I just bought a Pioneer FH-P5000MP double-DIN head unit last nite after some deliberation. I will put a 12-disc changer in the cubby behind my seat. I was going to put a sub in there but opted not to. That is when I saw these compact powered subs. Again, I am not looking for massive thump but just some mre to fill the low gap. I have Pioneer 6 1'2" 4-way speakers in the rear pockets and Infinity 4" Kappa's up front. I am not going to add any amps to the sysytem as I want to see how it works with just the HU's power. But, I do want to add the subwoofer because I know from experience that the small speakers suck when it comes to trying to it the lows.

The Kenwood unit is a little bigger and might not fit under the seat but the Clarion will. The Basslink definately won't fit anywhere because I just don't want an unsigtly speaker box impinging into the passenger space.

As I have mentioned in some of my other posts, I worked at a shop that sold JBL,Memphis,Clarion,Kenwwod,JVC,Orion,Swiss Audio,Pioneer, and Audiobahn.  Wildkartunz is right, Clarion is absolute garbage.  I can say that because I have dealt with them.  I would suggest maybe checking out Bazooka, even though I haven't sold their stuff, I have installed it and it sounds ok.  A while back, MTX made an enclosure with a single 10'' Roadthunder sub and like a 250watt amp built in.  Check their website.  If you just want a little...and I mean a little bass to simply compliment your system with some lows, try the unit that JBL makes.  It's a 61/2'' woofer powered by a 200 watt amp.  It looks and sounds like a small home audio subwoofer, is easy to install, and costs about $200.00.  Check JBL's website for model number.
