Chrysler infinity speaker replacements

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and think I need to replace my speakers. It is an infinity system with an amp under the seat.What would be a good/proper replacement speaker for the infinitys? I am wondering about power handling/RMS numbers. I am interested in all price ranges from low to high. Thanks

That is a huge range.  You might as well just go onto sites like Crutchfield.com or Cardomain.com.  You can also go to the manufacturer's site.  That way you can get some ideas on what you would like.  If you are a little more specific we can help more.That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

Go down to your local shop, listen to what they've got setup and see which ones you like the sound of the most.

I guess what I am asking is can I just throw in a pioneer or a sony speaker set? I can't find any info on what wattage these existing speakers are rated at, or if they have a specific ohm rating. I am no car audio expert. I think I am worried about the power output of the amp instantly blowing any speakers I might put in. Thanks

Is it an aftermarket amp or the stock amp?  Either way you should be fine.  If it is a stock amp, then look for a speaker with a higher efficiency.That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

That factory amp will not be too much power for any decent set of aftermarket speakers. The factory amplifier puts out about as much power as an aftermarket head unit. Just be sure that you match the impedance of the new speakers with the factory ones. A higher impedance than the factory pieces will not damage the amp, but a lower one might. Use a DMM to check the impedance of the factory speakers if it's not printed on the back of the magnet; many times it is printed right on the back of the speaker.Life moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around once in a while; you could miss it.

If the factory speakers are 2 ohm, then you can still use aftermarket speakers (most of which are 4 ohm)- it will not damage anything, as Hornshockey pointed out.  If you like, you can get a set of 2 ohm Infinity component speakers.My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

I put new front door speakers in a '00 jeep it had the fact. amp under the back seat.  Sounded pretty decent only modification was instead of fact. 6X9 customer wanted 6.5", a little abs and some trimming and it was done this was months ago, no probs. The factory speakers were 2 ohm so as posted previuosly adding 4 ohm speakers won't cause an issue. Listen before you buy, take your own music to listen to also.
