hi

i have a mtx 421d amp pushing a kicker 12 inch cvr sub . the amp runs on a 2 ohm load producing 400 watts .  i have a 90 amp alternator . i am planning to put another mtx 421d into my car . but the problem is with one mtx amp playing at high volumes and strong bass , i can see my lights dim a little bit . so if i install my second amp do u think i should upgrade my battery .  i dont know if i can upgrade my alternator . can i put a second battery to the same alternator ? if so how will i wire it .

thank you

If you can't find an upgrade alternator, see if a local shop can rewind one for you.

hi

so its important to upgrade my alternator , and not install a secondry battery ? . so wat alternator do i require for 2 mtx 421d amplifiers (400 watts each) and one blaupunkt gta-470 (70watts x4) . i mean to ask wat current do i require of it like 120a160a or 200a

thanks

you should upgrade the big 3, upgrade the alternator if you can. adding a second battery isn't a good idea if you don't have HO Alternator. because the second battery will steal power that supose to go to your amps. when the engine is on the amps are getting power from the alternator, not from the battery, thus if you have a second battery the alternator has to charge that second battery also, meaning more curent for that battery and less curent for your amps.
those mtx are 40 amperes each one and 80 amperes both, the blaupunk gta-470 is 60 amperes, thus total amperes of your system is 140 amperes
160A alt. will be fine
180- 200 A will be more than good for you
what car do you have?

today i thought ill ugrde the big 3 , but then when i checked out the OEM wiring it was good in size , i mean like 2awg or soemthing so dont think i needed that. . as per the elternator will any auto electrical repair shop fix it for me ? cz the guys around my place arnt that smart they say i have a great alterntor and i dont need to upgrade , when i try and explain the amount of current  the amplifiers need they just fail to agree .  and als noticed that the back of my alternator has some kind of pipes attached to it , i dont know if it works as any sort of pump or something .

anyway thanx to all of u for the help .

1. 2awg wire is good.
2. you have to check if they can rewind your alternator for you.
or
3. take picture of your car, picture of your engine and your alternator, and send them to this e-mail adresses check if they can make an alternator for your car.
nathanpeddicord@yahoo.com of http://www.excessiveamperage.com/
last time i spoke with this guy he said that he can make me an alternator that can fit on 2 different car(intercange)
and the other is dominick@tds.net of Iraggi Alternators.
check with them if they can help you out, i hope they can.power upgrade -- posted image.
